As your library grows, the system can expand, thanks to the wide variety of CodexNovus Libraries & Library/Players. Begin with a single Theater model Digital Media Library/Player and adding a second Theater model in another room for double the storage with full and complete access to all media from both Library/Players!

All digital media stored on HDcodex devices in your whole house network is displayed on each of the proprietary HDcodex user interface screens. Media stored on the local device are listed in white, while media stored in networked devices is listed in blue, with selection for viewing or listening with the touch of a button, no device changes, no file conversions, no glitches, and no hassle! Now, all the children’s favorite movies, cartoons, TV programs, and songs can be stored in their room with access throughout the entire house! Mom and dad can confidently store content suited for mature audiences in their bedroom, yet still view it throughout the home as user-defined preferences can be set to restrict certain content from being accessed by any number of units—meaning parents can manage what is viewed by their children.

Main Menu

  • Navigate between Movies, Music, Photos & Playlists
  • Welcome to the Main Menu, the headquarters for most HDcodex functions, such as finding and playing movies or clips, playing music or other audio, viewing images or photos, or making and playing your playlists.
  • Folder items contain one or more media items, which may be played singly, together or sequenced automatically.
  • Use the right and left Arrow keys to highlight the folder of your choice (Movies, Music, Photos, or Playlists). Press Select to open the folder, navigate to the item you wish to play using the up/down Arrow keys, and press Play.

Movies Menu

  • Movies can be browsed and selected in the following screen views:
    • Artwork view with movies displayed by cover art or image selected from content with metadata

    • Movie titles displayed in white are stored on this HDcodex, movie titles displayed in blue are stored on another HDcodex on the local peer-to-peer network (p2pT)
  • The Movies folder shows the title, genre, year, and CARA (MPAA) rating of each movie in your collection in the table on the larger left portion of the screen. The right portion of the screen contains artwork, if available, associated with the highlighted movie. Under the artwork, the title of the highlighted movie appears again, along with its running time and its rating. Page DN advances one page toward the end of the file list, and Page UP goes back up toward the beginning of the file list one page at a time. Hold down Page UP or Page DN to go quickly to the beginning or end of the file list. Cancel to exit back to the file list, and from the file list to the Main Menu.

Music Menu

  • Music can be browsed and selected in the following screen views:
    • View with line listing by artist with album and song titles plus artwork view and metadata of selected album
    • Artwork view transitions to song metadata as songs are selected
    • Music titles displayed in white are stored on this HDcodex, music titles displayed in blue are stored on another HDcodex on the local peer-to-peer network (p2pT)
  • The Music folder shows the artists listed in your collection in the table on the larger left portion of the screen. The right portion of the screen contains artwork, if available, associated with the highlighted artist. Select the artist to see the CD(s) and the titles on each CD in your collection. Right Arrow also drops down the sub-list(s). As you scroll up and down with the Arrow keys, the text under the artwork will display the name of the song, its source CD, and the running time of the song. If an artist has more than one CD in your collection for which artwork is available, up to four pieces of that associated artwork will be displayed on the right side of the screen when the artist is highlighted. Play to begin the music of your choice. Pause and Stop as desired. Left Arrow rolls up the drop-down sub-list(s). Page DN advances one page toward the end of the file list, and Page Up goes back up toward the beginning of the file list one page at a time. Hold down Page Up or Page DN to go quickly to the beginning or end of the file list. Press Stop to stop the music and exit back to the file list, and press Cancel from the file list to return to the Main Menu. NOTE: If you want to continue listening to the music you have chosen while you do other things, press Cancel to return to the Main Menu, and then look at your photos or perform other HDcodex functions. If you start a movie while the music is playing, the music will stop immediately.

Photo Menu

  • Photos are browsed in image matrix with selected photo displayed individually with associated metadata
    • Photo titles displayed in white are stored on this HDcodex, photo titles in blue are stored on another HDcodex on the local peer-to-peer network (p2pT)
  • The Photos folder displays smaller versions of the photos in your collection, with the highlighted item displayed on the right of the screen with any attached information. Proportions are correct, and not distorted, so some photos will appear taller or wider than others. Navigate with the Arrow keys to highlight, Select or Play to view full-screen. Use the Arrow keys to continue viewing photos before and/or after your initial selection at full-screen sizes. STOP goes back to the file list, as does Cancel. Page DN and Page Up advance and regress one screenful within the Photos file list. Press Cancel again to return to the Main Menu.

Playlist Menu

  • Playlists can be configured for many purposes, such as displaying photos with music background, photo slideshows, showing several movies without interruption or listening to your favorite music.
  • The Playlists folder comes with a sample playlist. You can make as many combinations of your different media as you wish, and play music or movie clips, view photos, or play music while photos are displayed. Use Arrow keys to navigate to a playlist, Right Arrow or Select to drop down its contents, and Play to start the list. If you want to start part of the way through the playlist, scroll down with the Arrow keys to the desired item, and Play. The playlist will stop when the last item is finished, unless you have enabled the Loop (F3) before you selected – in which case it will start over from the beginning and continue until you Stop.

  • Digital movie, music and image files are displayed and easily Imported via USB, eSATA, IEEE-1394 devices or CodexNovus DV-1 Digital Media Reader
